LAPLACE — Due to the high demand being placed on the water system as a result of freezing temperatures and excessive water leaks, St. John the Baptist Parish Government asked all residents Parishwide to conserve water.
Residents are asked to refrain from non-essential uses that use large amounts of water, such as doing multiple loads of laundry and running the dishwasher for hours.
“It is critical that residents assist us with conserving water as all these leaks are called in,” a Parish statement read. “Please refrain from using large quantities of water. If you are running your faucet as a result of freezing temperatures, please only run a small drip on one faucet furthest way from your main water line and turn off the faucet when temperatures rise above freezing. This makes a huge difference.”
