Riverside does well at RA meet

RESERVE – The Riverside Academy boys and girls track team did well in the Riverside Invitational Track Meet, which was held last week at Riverside.
In the girls division, Allison Zeringue broke her personal best in the high jump with a leap of 5’3. Her old personal best was 5’2.
The Shot Put saw Holly Ocmand finish in fourth place with a throw of 29.5.
Amber Shepard and Hannah Levin finished in fifth and sixth place respectively in the long jump. Shepard jumped 14’0, as did Levin.
Zeringue and Levin also placed in the top six in the triple jump competition.
Zeringue took fifth place with a leap of 29’11, while Levin finished in second place with a jump of 36’8.
Christy Englade’s time of 6:19 in the 1600 meter run was good enough for third place. Kayla Perret took home fifth place with 6:43 in the 1600.
Englade and Perret also finished fourth and fifth in the 800 meter run. Englade had a time of 2:47, while Perret finished with a time of 2:54.
In the 100 meter hurdles, Courtney Simon placed fourth with a time of 19.72. In addition, Monique Gratowski claimed sixth with a time of 22.67.
Laci Laiche placed in the top six in two events. She took home fifth place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 14.38. In addition, Laiche finished in third place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:09.77. Zeringue also performed well in the 400, finishing in second place with a time of 1:09.46.
In the 200 meter dash, Nicole Poirrier finished in sixth place with a time of 31:16.
Overall, the girls finished in second place, behind St. Amant.
The boys division saw Lee Haydel finish in the top six in three different categories. He finished in second place in the long jump, 100 meter dash, and triple jump. In the long jump, he leaped 20’7″. In the triple jump, he finished with a distance of 40’2″, and in the 100 meter dash he was clocked at 11:13.
Jesse LeBlanc also had a couple of second place finishes. He ran the 1600 in 5:06, which was good enough for second, and was second in the 400 with a time of 56.25. LeBlanc also had a fourth place finish with a time of 2.16.57 in the 800.
Ben Brignac was the lone Riverside finisher in the top six in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 18.22. Layne Labat finished with a time of 2:13.44 in the 800 meter run, which placed him in second place.
Kriss Vicknair, Dustin Edler, Joseph Dupepe, Evan Canzoneri, and Moe Ahmad each finished in the top six in one event.
Vicknair got fourth place in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.16, Canozeri claimed fourth place in the Pole Vault with a time of 9’6″, while Dupepe finished in sixth place with a vault of 8’6″. Edler finished in sixth in the shot put with a throw of 39’0″.
Finally, Ahmad finished in sixth place in the 3200 meter run with a time of 12:37.
Overall, the RA boys team finished in second place.
Teams partcipating in the meet inlcuded St. Charles Catholic, Country Day, False River, Loranger and Fisher.
Third place went to Loranger and fourth went to False River.
