HAHNVILLE – President Matthew Jewell, the St. Charles Parish Council, and the St. Charles Parish Department of Public Works celebrated the completion of significant upgrades to the Ama Pump Station, located at 20 Pats Court, with a ribbon cutting ceremony on July 13.
The two new 36″ electric pumps feature bar screens and automatic cleaners to keep debris from damaging the pumps. The addition of rip rap and Entergy required electrical upgrades were also completed before the installation of the new pumps. Couvillion began work in March 2022, and the $2,752,000 project took 15 months to complete.
The Ama Pump Station now has four pumps (two new 36”, plus the existing two 36” pumps), bringing the station’s capacity to 155,800 gallons per minute. This project ties into the forthcoming Lemoine, Hirsch, and St. Mark Drainage Improvements and the Union Pacific Railroad Drainage Ditch Improvements, which will greatly improve drainage for the residents and businesses in Ama.
