Driver Arrested in Jefferson Parish Hit-and-Run Crash That Killed Pedestrian

Jefferson – On May 12, 2023, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B made an arrest in the fatal hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of 43-year-old Jason Galaforo.
Through investigative means, Troopers identified 58-year-old Warren Long of Metairie as the driver of a 2003 Toyota 4-Runner that struck Galaforo.
Long was located and booked into the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center on the charge of felony hit-and-run driving resulting in death. This crash remains under investigation.

Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Jefferson Parish
Jefferson – On March 17, 2023 shortly before 10:00 pm, Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop B began investigating a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on US 90 near Central Avenue. The crash ultimately claimed the life of 43-year-old Jason Galaforo of Jefferson.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr. Galaforo was struck by an unknown vehicle while walking in the eastbound lanes of US 90, just east of the Central Avenue intersection. Mr. Galaforo was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The unknown vehicle fled the scene of the crash.
This crash remains under investigation and Troopers are working to gather all possible information regarding the vehicle that fled the scene. If anyone has information regarding this crash, we urge you to contact Louisiana State Police – Troop B at 504-471-2775.
Pedestrians are urged to maintain a heightened level of awareness while walking near the road. Simple precautions such as wearing reflective materials, avoiding distractions, and walking a safe distance from travel lanes while facing oncoming traffic could help prevent many pedestrian related crashes. Troopers would also like to take this opportunity to remind drivers of the consequences of hit-and-run driving. Whoever commits the crime of felony hit-and-run driving when death or serious bodily injury is a result, can be fined up to five thousand dollars and face up to ten years in prison
