Last week, St Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office presented its 2024 crime statistics to the Parish Council and the public. While robberies increased violent crime, shootings decreased.
Authorities in St. Charles Parish promised to continue addressing crime and making the parish safer for everyone. Sheriff Greg Champagne noted that while crime increased slightly in 2024, it remains the second-best year for crime reduction at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office in 28 years.
Notably, there was a significant drop in homicides, with only one reported last year. Sheriff Greg said ongoing vigilance and collaboration with citizens were vital for public safety.
“Thank you to the dedicated men and women of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office who have contributed to this remarkable success. Let us continue working together toward a safer community for everyone,” Sheriff Greg said in a press release.
Here’s a breakdown of what was presented by the numbers:
17 robberies: Robberies up compared to 2023, but still low compared to a decade ago
