NEW ORLEANS — Angie Cambre, 43, of LaPlace, pleaded guilty Wednesday to wire fraud, Acting U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans said.
According to court documents, Cambre was hired in 2011 as an accountant and bookkeeper for a commercial printing company headquartered in New Orleans that specializes in printing materials, such as flyers and manuals, geared toward the automotive industry.
Between November 2011 and June 2016, authorities said Cambre embezzled approximately $940,000 from the company without the company’s knowledge or authorization.
“Cambre did so by causing payments to be sent from one of the company’s bank accounts to accounts under her control and to repay debts due and owing related to her personal use,” a release from the Justice Department said.
“Cambre faces up to 20 years in jail followed by up to three years of supervised release and a $250,000 fine.”
As part of her plea, Cambre agreed to repay her former employer $940,336.24 in restitution.
U.S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance scheduled sentencing for Dec. 13.
Evans praised the work of the United States Secret Service in investigating this matter. Assistant United States Attorney Jordan Ginsberg is in charge of the prosecution.
