LAPLACE — Qualifying for October Statewide & Municipal Elections begins today and runs through Friday, according to Louisiana Secretary of State Tom Schedler’s office.
In St. John the Baptist Parish, there will be a Special Election for District 1 of the St. John School Board.
Interim member Charo Holden currently holds the seat after she was appointed to the Board following the resignation of Russell Jack.
Jack stepped down to serve as St. John the Baptist Parish Registrar of Voters.
The election is scheduled Oct. 14. Early voting runs Sept. 30 to Oct. 7. A runoff, if needed, is planned Nov. 18.
Also scheduled on the Oct. 14 ballot is a St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools millage renewal.
All candidates must qualify with the parish clerk of court.
Once qualified, candidates will appear on the secretary of state’s website in real-time under “Elections & Voting,” “Get Election Information,” “Search for Candidates,” or by visiting voterportal.sos.la.gov/CandidateInquiry.
