According to Capt. Patrick Yoes of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Jerry L. Brown Jr. turned himself in and was arrested Saturday evening. He is being held at the Nelson Coleman Correctional Center for attempted second degree murder. His bond is set at $100,000.

The Sheriff’s Office said Brown, 35, was involved in an altercation with a St. Rose man at approximately 9 p.m. Friday.

“The victim said that Brown tried to get him to lend him some money,” Yoes said. “When he didn’t, Brown allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck.”

The victim’s injuries required surgery. As of Tuesday morning, the victim was in stable condition, Yoes said.

Yoes added the investigation is continuing and there is a possibility of more arrests.

“We don’t want to put too much (information) out because we are still investigating,” Yoes said.

“More information is coming in.”

Before his arrest, police said Brown’s last known address was on Megehee Street in Waggaman.
