LAPLACE — “When it’s all done, it will be worth the wait,” Parish President Jaclyn Hotard said when St. John Parish was authorized to solicit bids on the Carrollwood Drive Rehabilitation Project in early 2022. “It’s been a long overdue project.”
This week, Hotard gathered with staff and local officials to cut the ribbon on the new and improved Carrollwood Drive. The $2.2 million project included construction of ADA-compliant crosswalks, replacement of deteriorated sidewalks, construction of pavement markings, and other road, drainage and wastewater improvements.
“We are truly excited about the conclusion of this much-needed improvement project and want to thank all of the residents and businesses in the area for their cooperation and patience during construction,” Hotard said.
Officials broke ground on the rehabilitation project in September 2022 along with Principal Engineering and Kass Construction. While the road was closed to thru traffic, access was granted to residential traffic, emergency responders and mail and garbage services throughout the duration of the project.
A certificate of substantial completion was executed during the May 23 Parish Council meeting.
