LAPLACE — River Parishes Community College was proud to partner with Shell during their 12th annual Energize Your Destiny event. This virtual career exploration event is focused on introducing young women to a variety of careers in the energy industry and fostering their desire to pursue high demand, high wage careers locally.

This year’s event was held virtually on Thursday, Sept. 3.

The Energize Your Destiny event centralizes industry experts and leaders in the field, giving women greater access and opportunity to explore unique career interests. The event highlights how RPCC, along with other colleges within the Louisiana Community & Technical College System, provide programs and training to support the   advancement of females into sustainable careers.

There was representation from local business and industry partners and community colleges across the River Region who provided expertise on specific skills needed to enter the field, an explanation of the field, and the educational journey to get there, according to RPCC Work Base Learning Coordinator Cherri Wells.

River Parishes Community College is an open admission institution that partners with the communities and businesses of the River Parishes region of Louisiana to provide workforce training, certificates, diplomas and associate degrees.
