The Kiwanis Club of Tri Parishes saluted first responders and provided another opportunity to serve children in the community during a membership drive held last week at the new PJ’s Coffee Shop in Lutcher. Police, EMS and fire personnel enjoyed a cup of coffee as they learned about the Kiwanis Club’s upcoming initiatives.
Membership has tripled since Kiwanis Club of Tri Parishes was founded in 2022, according to President Dayna James. There are currently more than 40 active members.
“We have members from all three parishes. A lot of them are people who are retired and looking to get involved, and they are coming out,” she said. “We have had membership drives in St. John and St. James. We had a great turnout. It was a great event because we also partnered with PJ’s, and it was another way to bring awareness for their business.”
The Kiwanis Club is preparing to welcome new board members. There are already events on the horizon for the second half of 2023, including a back to school event held in partnership with Chick fil A LaPlace and Toys for Tots. More details will follow.
The Kiwanis Club of Tri Parishes is also gearing up for the second annual College and Career Fair planned for October 11 at New Wine Christian Fellowship.
