Updated: St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office addresses concerns over tax-related phone scams

This is an update regarding a telephone scam alert announced by the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025. The St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office has contracted GTAM Services, a legitimate company calling residents about outstanding property tax bills.

The calls are informational, and residents are instructed on how and where to pay their outstanding bill to avoid the property being sold at a tax sale.

To be clear, GTAM Services will never ask residents to make payments over the phone nor will they ask for any financial information, such as a credit card or bank account.

Tax payments can be made online at the Sheriff’s Office website or in-person at the Sheriff’s Office.  If residents have questions regarding their property taxes, they can contact the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 359-8710.
