LAPLACE — Deputy Lennie Valentine has long believed in protecting and serving.
He volunteers each week at the St. John Council on Aging’s Senior Citizens Center in Reserve, helping out in any way he can, which often means serving as a cook for various events.
His skills barbecuing for clients and boiling seafood are mainstays at the Senior Center.
Valentine also has been a volunteer for local Boys and Girls Clubs and Buddy Lawson playground for 46 years.
“It’s inspiring to this department to see officers like Deputy Valentine giving of their time and talent to help others,” Sheriff Mike Tregre said.
“He is one of many officers at the St. John Sheriff’s Office who enjoy giving back to the community.”
The St. John Business Association named Lennie Valentine its St. John Sheriff’s Officer of the Month, recognizing him this month at Petra Restaurant & Lounge in LaPlace.
Valentine was celebrated for his outstanding service to the community.
