On my way to pay my respects to the family of a person who just passed away, I was reminded that this week I had attended the wakes of five people.

I decided to call my friend, Joe Accardo, and said, “Just wanted to say hello and remind you that this is the first day of the rest of our lives. Let’s enjoy it.”

At my age, I’m often reminded that life is but a vapor. We’re here today and gone tomorrow.

The Bible says that it’s appointed a time to be born and also a time to die.

It’s been said, and I believe, that time is more valuable than money, because time is irreplaceable.

I sometimes feel guilty about all the time that I have wasted and not enjoyed each day to the fullest.

I read the following in Wings of Silver, which was compiled by Jo Petty.

The clock of life is wound but once,

And no man has the power to tell

Just when the hands will stop

At late or early hour.

Now is the only time you own:

Live, love, toil with a will,

Place no faith in tomorrow;

For the clock may then be still.

I think that this should be a reminder to everyone, regardless of age, that life is a gift from God and what we make of it is our gift to Him.
