LAPLACE — The fifth grade students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School hosted a walkathon to raise funds to purchase goodies for patients at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans.
The Joe W. and Dorothy Dorsett Brown Foundation’s Service Learning Program funded the event. The students learned what service learning means and discussed the variety of ways they could contribute.
Students from PS2 through seventh grade gathered pledges and walked thousands of laps to help purchase games, books, crafts and gift cards for the young patients.
