Krewe of Agape: XVI Carnival Bal Masque celebrates this Saturday

The Krewe of Agape will be celebrating its XVI Carnival Bal Masque on Saturday at the Landmark Best Western Hotel in Metairie.
This year’s theme is “Krewe of Agape Visits the Universoul Circus.”
This year’s Captain is Shelby Prout of LaPlace. Shelby is the son of Carla and Warren Prout Sr. of LaPlace. Shelby is a graduate of East St. John High School and Grambling State University.
The Queen is Erin Christine Tuircuit, and the King Elect is Akeem Kareem Burl.
The Krewe of Agape 2018 Maids:
• Mea Christian Anderson, the daughter of Malcolm and Colette Anderson of Edgard.
• Tori Alexandria Bailey is the daughter of Jarren and Tyson Roussel of River Ridge.
• Nydia Maude Marie Cooper, the daughter of Machiavelli and Nadine Nelson-Cooper of St. James.
• Ty’Jonae Christeon Frye is the daughter of Johnell and Renee Frye of Thibodaux.
• Tyler Jae Lennix, the daughter of Allen and Davina Lennix of LaPlace.
• Logan MacKenzye Mitchell, the daughter of Nia Ellis Mitchell and Gregory Mitchell of Reserve.
• Dy’Jae Le’Arryiel Singleton, daughter of Ms. Darnish Cook of LaPlace.
• Arielle Olivia Tillery, daughter of Emmett and Evone Tillery of LaPlace.
This year’s King Elect is Akeem Kareem Burl of LaPlace. Akeem is the son of Irene and Albert Burl Jr. Akeem was Captain Agape in 2014.
Akeem is a graduate of East St. John High School and Southeastern Louisiana University, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While at Southeastern, Akeem was a member of Sigma Tau Delta English Honor Society.
In 2014 at the age of 24, Akeem took his hidden talent and turned it into a business. “A Touch of Akeem” graphic design, specializing in invitations, programs and other graphic designs for any occasion.
Akeem is currently employed with The Child Advocacy Services as an Advocate Supervisor.
Queen Elect is Erin Christine Tuircuit. Erin is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Everage Tuircuit III of Reserve.
Erin is a 2014 graduate of St. Charles Catholic High School. At St. Charles she played volleyball, tennis, ran track and was a member of the French Club.
She currently attends Tulane School of Professional Advancement, where she is classified as a junior. She anticipates graduating in the spring of 2019 with a bachelor’s degree majoring in General Law Studies with a minor in English.
Erin is currently employed with the Law office of Glenn C. McGovern Attorney at Law in Metairie as a legal assistant with the Plantiff litigation firm. She is also part time employed with The Medicine Shoppe.
She is also preparing to become state board qualified to be a pharmacy technician.
No stranger to the Krewe of Agape, Erin has participated as a Princess and a lady in waiting. Her brother attorney Jarrette J. Tuircuit reigned as King in 2008 with her cousin Bianca Cambre Plummer.
Her sister Courtney was a princess and a lady in waiting. Her brother Justin was a paige and a prince. Her godparents Veronica and Barry Cambre reigned as King and Queen Agape in 1998.
