LAPLACE — The high school football playoffs begin this week, and there is no parish in Louisiana better represented than St. John the Baptist.
All four high school teams qualified for postseason play, with two earning byes into the second round thanks to exceptional regular seasons.
West St. John High leads local team standings as the No. 1 seed in Class 1A. The Rams (8-2) are off this week and play the East Iberville/Delhi winner next week in Edgard.
St. Charles Catholic (8-2) also earned a bye, advancing straight through to the Division II second round next week against the winner of St. Louis and E.D. White. The Comets are seeded at No. 3 in their 13-team division.
