LAPLACE — Louisiana Federal Credit Union employees donated more than $4,000 to the American Cancer Society in observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, raising money by purchasing luminaries, conducting a 50/50 raffle and hosting an annual sweet auction featuring baked goods donated by employees. The Credit Union staff brought in $4,090 in just 90 minutes.
Credit Union President/CEO Rhonda Hotard said everyone is touched in some way by cancer.
“Many of us either have lost loved ones to the fight or stood by a friend or family member as they courageously fought, won the battle and rang the bell,” Hotard said. “We know that research is such an important part of beating cancer, and the American Cancer Society works tirelessly to find ways to prevent this dreaded disease.”
According to Hotard, the Credit Union’s goal each year is to contribute to freeing the world from cancer.
