LAPLACE — Two out-of-towners are facing charges relating to the killing of a LaPlace man as police note the investigation continues and more suspects could be arrested.
Andrew Jasmine, 29, of LaPlace was pronounced dead on the scene Feb. 15 at approximately 8:30 a.m. after deputies and emergency services responded to a complaint in the 2000 block of East Frisco Drive.
Upon arrival, deputies and detectives learned a male victim, identified as Jasmine, sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the body.
The residence also had been ransacked, police noted, adding their investigation points to a shooting that followed a premeditated robbery of Jasmine.
Over the course of the investigation, detectives identified Ahkemon Jacob Bardell Jr., 21, of Harvey, and Branden Clegg, 22, of Houston.
Bardell was charged Sept. 26, when he was in the custody of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office for a probation violation. He is booked with felony second degree murder and felony armed robbery with a firearm.
Bardell was transferred to local authorities earlier this month and is being held at the St. Charles Parish Nelson Coleman Correctional Center.
Clegg was charged Aug. 31 when he was in St. John custody for a probation violation. He is booked with conspiracy to second degree murder and conspiracy to armed robbery. He is being held in lieu of an $850,000 bond.
This investigation is ongoing, and more arrests may be made, police said.
Anyone with information on the killing is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS, dispatch at 985-652-6338 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
