Keller: We grow stronger through trials, temptations

Before I became a Christian, when situations happened that caused me to be uncomfortable, I considered that bad luck. When I gave in to a temptation, I felt bad for a while and then forgot about it.
Now that I’m a Christian, I realize that God has a purpose for my life and that I am a work in progress.
Besides going to church on Sundays, I listen to Pastor Charles Stanley with “In Touch Ministries” from Atlanta, Ga.
This past Sunday, his topic was “Our Faith on Trial.” He spoke of the difference between trials and temptations. He said that God uses a trial to strengthen us as Christians.
A few years ago, I started thanking God for every trial He allowed me to go through, but reminded Him that I didn’t enjoy any of them. As I reflect, I see where there was a lesson to be learned in every uncomfortable trial.
Temptations aren’t from God, but from the enemy. Temptations entice us to sin, weaken us and hinder our relationship with God. The Bible says that God will give us the strength to resist any temptation if we call on Him.
My experience has always been to call on God for His help when going through a trial, but not as often when being tempted.
The bottom line is that God is faithful and is always there for us in trials and temptations.
