Belle Terre Country Club employee charged with club burglary

LAPLACE — A Belle Terre Country Club employee was arrested this week after police said he was recorded stealing money from his employer.

Jason A. Bignar, 37, of New Orleans was arrested Tuesday, the result of a business burglary reported Sunday morning at the LaPlace country club.

During the investigation, officers learned there was no sign of forced entry and an undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.

“After reviewing recorded video surveillance from the business, officers identified the suspect as Bignar, who was an employee of the country club,” A Sheriff’s Office release said.

“Bignar was observed entering the front door, deactivating the alarm and walking into the office. Bignar also appears to be stuffing what appears to be cash inside of his pants pocket as he walked out the office.”

Police said Bignar confessed during questioning.

He was booked Tuesday with simple burglary – immovable structure and was released the same day after posting a $10,000 bond.
