Michel: God’s protection provides safety

Night or day, rain or shine, my mom travels with an umbrella, which is a habit I have never acquired.
I don’t mind her bringing an umbrella around, though, because if it rains, we’re covered.
Once she opens the umbrella, I move close to her, and as we walk, I follow her directions.
“Turn right.”
“The car’s up ahead.”
“Watch that puddle.”
She speaks and I listen because I want to be safe and dry.
In somewhat the same way, when the storms of life approach, a situation heats up, or I am in need of direction from God, I tend to move closer to Him.
I pray more, I listen to worship music, and I scour the Bible for direction.
Psalm 46:1 has taught me that “God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.”
I believe that He loves when we run to Him for help because according to James 4:8, “When we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us.”
I’m forever grateful for the provision, protection, and direction that God constantly supplies — night or day, rain or shine.
