State Senate early voting begins this week

Early voting begins this week in St. John the Baptist Parish for the special Louisiana Senate runoff between Warren Harang III and Ed Price.

Early voting runs daily from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday through May 20, except Sunday, at the Percy D. Hebert Building in LaPlace, 1801 W. Airline Highway, and Edgard Courthouse, 2393 Louisiana 18 in Edgard.

Special election precincts in St. John Parish include 1-02; 1-03; 1-04; 1-05; 1-06; 1-07; 2-01; 2-02; 2-03; 2-04; 2-05; 3-01; 3-02; 3-04; 4-01 and 4-03.

Harang and Price separated themselves from a bloated field of 13 candidates April 29 that were seeking to fill the seat left vacant with the resignation of State Sen. Troy Brown.

Harang finished first (27 percent, 3,985 votes) and Ed Price (22 percent, 3,282 votes) came in second. Election day is May 27. Residents with precinct questions can call 985-652-9797.
