JEFFERSON — Due to an influx of surgeries at Ochsner Hospital, the kidney transplant surgery for Greg Gathers’ has been postponed to today, according to Gathers’ wife Danaya.

Gathers, the former East St. John High School football player, teacher and coach, was scheduled to receive a kidney from childhood friend, Christopher Wallace of LaPlace, on Feb. 20.

Danaya Gathers said she and her husband learned of the postponement over the weekend.
