Keller: Heaven recently welcomed Sutton

I’ve been to many funerals and often heard it said that if there is a Heaven or Hell, he or she is certainly in Heaven.
Let me share my convictions, loud and clear. As a Christian, I believe there is a Heaven to look forward to or a Hell to fear if we reject God’s offer of salvation. It’s a free gift, but not cheap, because Jesus paid the price on the cross.
Saturday, I attended a funeral that celebrated the life of Natalie Craig Sutton. Her husband, David, and their daughter, Jackie, and sons, Matt and Philip, were raised in LaPlace.
I’ve known her father-in-law, David Sr., and wife, June, all of my life.
I believe people have many casual, personal relationships, but very few, if any, spiritual connections.
I didn’t really have a close relationship with David and Natalie, but I had the privilege of hearing her sing and would occasionally see them at a restaurant or some social event.
The only thing I know is that I was blessed every time I spent time with them.
The last time was at a wedding reception for one of their relatives. I knew Natalie was battling a serious health problem. We spent maybe 30 or 40 minutes just sharing about our families, praying for a healing in her body and life in general.
That’s the longest time I ever spent with them.
Natalie was always pleasant and very pretty, but her spirit was what got my attention.
I said all that to say this. Our relationship was a spiritual connection that I can’t explain, but realize that it was God’s way of blessing me.
I repeat that I’m convinced there is a Heaven and, without a doubt, I know Natalie’s Heavenly Father welcomed her with open arms and said, “Well done, Natalie!” She will now spend eternity with Him.
