LAPLACE — A LaPlace man found dead Wednesday morning might have been killed days earlier, authorities said.

Andrew Jasmine, 29, of LaPlace was found dead in his home in the 2000 block of East Frisco Drive in LaPlace.

St. John Sheriff Mike Tregre said a visitor found the victim at approximately 8:30 a.m. and alerted authorities.

Officers and emergency services attempted to render medical aid to Jasmine, but he was unresponsive and pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner’s office. Authorities said the victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

As of Friday morning, Tregre said suspect and motive information are still being developed.

According to Tregre, evidence at the scene suggests Jasmine was possibly killed Monday, adding some items from his home are missing.

“There was no forced entry, and that suggests the victim was killed by someone who knew him,” Tregre said.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office TIPS line at 985-359-TIPS, dispatch at 985-652-6338 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
