Registrar of Voters stepping down

LAPLACE — Do you want to be St. John the Baptist Parish’s next Registrar of Voters?
The opportunity is available as current Registrar Rita E. Jarrow eyes her last day on the job Dec. 31.
The 37-year veteran of public service has worked as Registrar of Voters since 2013.
Jarrow said she has served as secretary, confidential assistant, chief deputy and registrar.
“I took all the steps and went through all of the motions,” Jarrow said this week. “The time is right to move on. God has blessed me in so many ways. I’ve had good years, and opportunities have just taken me in another direction.”
On such opportunity is spending more time watching her son, Dillon Gordon, play with the Philadelphia Eagles. Gordon, a rookie out of LSU, plays guard on the Eagles’ offensive line.
St. John the Baptist Parish Government is asking qualified individuals to submit an application packet for appointment to fill the vacancy. Applications can be picked up from the Parish Council Office at 1805 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace.
Completed packets must be submitted by 4:30 p.m. Dec. 2.
Qualified candidates will be afforded interviews in front of the Parish Council Jan. 10, with an appointment decision scheduled Jan. 24.
