RESERVE — Just about everyone has heard of “house flipping,” where buyers scoop up fixer-upper properties and do major renovations.
That’s what Chalmette Amusement Company has done to the River’s Palace Casino in Reserve.
Located at 3901 W. Airline Highway in Reserve, the new and improved truck stop casino held a Grand Opening Thursday with giveaways and prizes to welcome guests.
“It’s clean, it’s bright, it’s colorful, it smells nice,” said manager Thea Garcia. “It’s been completely renovated. It’s really nice to look at.”
The casino also offers all the most popular games and the latest software updates for its video poker machines.
“No other casinos in the area have that,” she said.
The truck stop casino was acquired eight months ago by Troy Estopinal of Chalmette Amusement and has undergone a complete renovation.
“It was real dark and dingy in here,” Garcia said.
“My boss likes to remodel things. We tore out everything from the carpet to the walls.
“It really was a renovation from the ground up.”
Guests visiting the venue Thursday were treated to free food and music, cash drawings and hourly giveaways, including a 50-inch television.
Garcia said the casino will offer monthly giveaways and promotions.
