LAPLACE — The report of a bullet found on a local public school bus has led St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies to investigate Friday morning at East St. John High School.
Public school district officials said the parent of a LaPlace Elementary School student contacted the transportation department Thursday to report her child brought home a bullet said to be found on a bus Wednesday afternoon.
“Administration immediately began an internal investigation, which is continuing at this time,” a release from the School District said this morning. “This investigation will include viewing videotape from the bus to determine if the bullet was actually found on the bus.”
The Sheriff’s Office sent a detective and a K-9 unit to East St. John High School Friday morning as a precautionary measure, school officials said.
The bus in question serves LaPlace Elementary and East St. John High schools. District officials are at both sites assisting with the investigation.
