“The purpose is to give SCC students a jump start on college,” principal Andrew Cupit said.

The ins and outs of the program, as well as details of student schedules and teacher greetings, were highlighted at SCC’s recent Back to School Night.

Parents also learned about SCC’s technology upgrades and about the “United in Faith” capital improvement plans.

Teachers and students are continuing with the one-to-one program with Apple iPads. Teachers are incorporating interactive Promethean panels and iPads into their daily instruction.

Students use the iPad while participating in critical thinking, analysis and research within the classroom and at home.

Administrators also discussed the new responsive school website that is maintained by Gary Zeringue and his media class students.

Improvements to the facility will take place soon and center on building enhancements and upgrades key to improving the teaching-learning experience.

School leaders said the brief class sessions provided parents an excellent opportunity to meet their child’s teachers and preview the academic expectations in each of their classes.
