LAPLACE — A local man who first blamed his child pornography indiscretions on his father, authorities said, later admitted to the crimes and accepted a seven-year jail sentence.

Matthew Wade Guillory, 27, of LaPlace pleaded guilty Monday in front of Judge Mary Hotard Becnel to four counts of pornography involving juveniles, District Attorney Bridget Dinvaut said.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office Cyber Crime Unit investigated Guillory after investigators developed a lead he was sharing pornography involving juveniles online through “peer-to-peer” file sharing software.

Special Agents from the Cyber Crime Unit obtained a search warrant Nov. 12 to search Guillory’s home at 1804 Madewood Road in LaPlace.

According to Dinvaut, Special Agents recovered a number of digital files that contained child pornography. When Guillory was questioned, he initially tried to pass blame onto his father, but his story quickly deteriorated upon further questioning, Dinvaut said.

On Monday, Guillory accepted the prosecution team’s offer of seven years with the Department of Corrections, which is to be served without the benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence pursuant to state law.

Becnel sentenced Guillory and ordered he register as a sex offender for a period of 25 years upon his release from prison.

Assistant District Attorney J. Philip Prescott Jr. led the prosecution team.

The Plaquemines Sex Crimes/Child Abuse Section began an undercover operation into the distribution of pornography involving juveniles Oct. 9, Plaquemines Parish Sheriff Lonnie Greco said.

“During the investigation, Guillory shared software files, by way of a computer network, with PPSO Detective Sergeant Aaron Verrette, who is a member of the ICAC Task Force and was working in an official undercover capacity,” Greco said. “Upon examining the files Guillory shared, Sergeant Verrette determined they contained multiple images of what appeared to be child pornography. Further review of the shared files revealed that they contained nude photographs, in addition to sexual intercourse videos, of prepubescent females between the approximate ages of six to 13 years of age.”

Verrette discovered the child pornography was transmitted over the Internet from Guillory’s home.

“Guillory admitted to investigators that the youngest victim he had downloaded appeared to be an infant,” Greco said.
