St. John Theatre’s children’s drama workshop is performing, “At the Bandstand” at 7 p.m. Friday at the theater on West 4th Street in Reserve.

Organizers said children have been working hard and having a ball the past two weeks preparing for the show, described as a condensed version of the classic, “Hairspray.”

Tickets are $3 at the door. The children’s workshop is an annual effort put on by theater organizers to teach interested youngsters about the magic of the theater and work that goes into staging a production. Veteran director Kristen Brooks will lead Friday’s production.
