Jarren Wells, left, was recognized for earning perfect attendance for three consecutive years, and Mairon Carter was recognized as the Student of the Year and co-valedictorian during East St. John Elementary School’s Eighth Grade Achievement Ceremony May 23. Carter and fellow valedictorian Kendreon Lewis each achieved a 3.9 GPA. The salutatorian was Iriel Crouch with a 3.8 GPA. Principal Stacy Bradford delivered the keynote address, “Making Dreams a Reality.” Sixty-seven students participated in the ceremony. Students received awards for scholastic achievement, participation in sports and extracurricular activities and for demonstrating positive behavior and leadership throughout the school year.
