LAPLACE — A LaPlace man was arrested Sunday after an argument with his girlfriend turned violent, authorities said.
Deputies from the St. John the Baptist Sheriff’s Office responded to a domestic disturbance at 8:53 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Revere Drive in LaPlace.
Sgt. Dane Clement said the home where the reported attack occurred belonged to the 26-year-old female victim and her boyfriend, Conroy Taylor, 26, of LaPlace.
The victim told the responding deputy Taylor began to question her about text messages and photos on her cell phone.
Taylor and the victim began to argue, authorities said, and Taylor grabbed his girlfriend around the neck and chocked her.
“It was a domestic situation,” Clement said. “The responding officer observed cuts and bruising on the female’s neck and arms, which led to the arrest.
“Taylor was arrested at the residence the same day.”
Authorities said the victim refused medical aid.
Clement said authorities are not releasing what type of messages and photos led to the attack.
Taylor was booked with domestic abuse battery involving strangulation.
He was released from jail Sunday on a $25,000 bond.
