LAPLACE — KinderCare Early Education and Daycare center is closing after more than 30 years of nurturing the young minds of children in St. John the Baptist Parish.
Colleen Moran, communications supervisor for KinderCare, said the facility located at 320 Belle Terre Blvd. in LaPlace would close June 3.
“We’re honored to have been a part of the LaPlace community for the past 35 years and to have had the opportunity to care for and educate hundreds of children,” Moran said. “The decision to close the center was difficult and was not made lightly.”
Decreasing attendance forced the closure, Moran said.
“As the community of LaPlace has been impacted by economic changes, we have struggled with a declining number of families who use our services,” she said.
“These factors mean it’s no longer viable for us to continue to operate this center.”
The learning center catered to a range of age groups from infant and baby programs, along with before and after school programs for children ages 5 to 12.
“We know the Belle Terre KinderCare is a home away from home for more than 60 children who attend our center,” Moran said. “We are helping families transition to other centers in LaPlace, and our center staff are reaching out to other providers to gather information about their programs to share with KinderCare families.”
Moran also said the organization has provided families of KinderCare children with access to Care.com to help family members search for a new childcare program.
“While we are sad to leave LaPlace, we will continue to support our KinderCare families and staff through the center’s closure at the beginning of June,” Moran said. “It has been our privilege to care for and educate LaPlace children for so many years.”
