The St. John the Baptist Parish School Board recognized LaPlace Elementary School student Tamiyah Gross at Thursday. Gross placed third in the regional round of the 28th Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee in New Orleans on Feb. 27. The regional competition was open to fifth- through eighth-graders from seven parishes.
