St. Charles United Way attains funding record

DESTREHAN — To date, United Way of St. Charles has raised $3,002,113 — a substantial increase from last year’s campaign, as well as the largest fundraising campaign in the organization’s history.
Campaign co-chair McKinley Day Jr. delivered that news March during United Way of St. Charles’ Victory Celebration.
Day of Covenant Church serves with Duane Foret of St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Department, Nicole Day of Jesse Duplantis Ministries and Leanna Weaver of Entergy Wateford 3 as 2015-16 Campaign co-chairs.
“United Way of St. Charles would like to thank all the local industries, businesses and individuals for their hard work in making this campaign a success,” Foret said. “You all should be very proud.”
The Victory Celebration at Cypress Lakes Country Club in Destrehan included accomplishment announcements associated with United Way of St. Charles’ Annual Campaign and recognized companies for success in their workplace campaigns.
Valero St. Charles Refinery, Norco Manufacturing Complex, Rain CII Carbon, Dow St. Charles Operations, Entergy Waterford 3, Monsanto, Cornerstone Chemical Company, OxyChem, ARTCo, Hexion, ADM, Evonik and Zachry Group received top honors for success in campaign improvement, employee per capita giving, corporate giving, percent participation and leadership giving.
The non-industry campaigns of St. Charles Parish Public Schools, St. Charles Community Health Center, AM/PM Staffing Services, Glazer’s, St. Charles Parish Hospital, First National Bank USA, St. Charles Parish Government, United Way of St. Charles and St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office were also recognized.
Valero was awarded the night’s highest honor, receiving the Spirit Award in recognition of the best overall United Way campaign. Valero St. Charles Operations raised $1,065,884 for United Way in 2015‐16.
Valero St. Charles Refinery Vice President and General Manager Ralph Phillip said he was proud to be associated with the most giving employees any company could wish for.
“They willingly give of their time, energy and funds for the most worthy cause,” he said.
United Way is a nonprofit working to create lasting changes in St. Charles Parish by funding local agencies and developing programs that target education, income and health.
