LAPLACE — The Hurricane Junior Golf Tour, the largest junior golf tour in the United States, has canceled its stop in LaPlace, which was scheduled for later this month.
The tour, which allows junior golfers to earn points toward year-end honors, was to be played March 19-20 at Belle Terre Country Club.
Event organizers said Monday that the LaPlace stop had been canceled.
Mike Randleman, the tour’s marketing representative, said the cancellation had nothing to do with the Feb. 23 tornado in the area. Rather, the decision was a case of over-scheduling by the tour’s organizers.
“Our biggest concerns were due to logistical issues with our travel teams, as we also have five other events for the weekend of March. 19-20,” Randleman said.
There was no word on if or when the event would be rescheduled. For more information, visit hjgt.org.
