St. John Parish reacts to severe weather; Tornado Watch issued

LAPLACE — A Tornado Watch has been issued until 10 p.m. today for St. John the Baptist Parish and the surrounding parishes.
Heavy winds are currently taking place throughout the area and we remain under a Wind Advisory until 6 a.m. Wednesday.
St. John is not under a Flash Flood Watch or Warning at this time.
The National Weather Service predicts a moderate to enhanced risk of severe weather expected to move through the afternoon and evening. The main threats at this time are strong, damaging winds, large hail, and quick developing tornadoes.
All Parish Government Offices will close by noon today. The St. John Parish Council meeting has been rescheduled until Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Percy Hebert Council Chambers.
Administration, Public Safety and essential staff members are in communication with the National Weather Service and have made preparations for inclement weather.
Residents should report any emergencies and all weather related concerns by dialing 911.
