LAPLACE — St. Charles Catholic High School celebrated its school Thanksgiving Mass and hundreds of canned goods were collected and brought up during the Offertory.
More than 50 baskets of food were presented, along with a donation of $1,497 to go towards gift certificates for turkeys.
On Thanksgiving Day, SCC teamed up with Marathon, Cargill and Poncho Roussel to prepare and deliver more than 500 meals to the needy in the community. Each year, SCC prepares and delivers hundreds of turkey meals on Thanksgiving Day.
Students deliver the meals right before noon. The service project carries out the mission of SCC.
The Fellowship Christian Athletes at St. Charles Catholic High School recently made gift-filled shoeboxes as part of “Operation Christmas Child.”
The members filled more than 25 shoeboxes with brand new items such as small books, Bibles, rosaries, socks and school supplies. The St. Charles Fellowship of Christian Athletes completed the packing at one of its recent Thursday night meetings as a way to give thanks.
