LAPLACE — A local woman was pronounced dead in a LaPlace parking lot on Thanksgiving, authorities said.
St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to 1737 W. Airline Highway in LaPlace at 6:09 p.m. Thursday after getting a call of a suspicious car.
Sgt. Dane Clement said deputies located a 56-year-old female LaPlace victim dead on the scene.
As of press time Tuesday morning, authorities are not releasing the victim’s name.
“We aren’t sure if it was heart attack,” Clement said. “We aren’t in the medical field, so we can’t determine that. The caller called 911 and said there was a female slumped over in a car in the parking lot near the water filter place next to the old Radio Shack.”
When authorities arrived, the woman was not responsive.
“CPR was started and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene by the coroner,” Clement said. “An autopsy was ordered, and I’m waiting on the preliminary results of the autopsy.”
According to Clement, family members of the victim have been notified.
