RESERVE — As a result of a significant water leak at the Lyons Water Plant, water customers located in Water District No. 1 — Reserve, Garyville and Mount Airy — must conserve water and refrain from non-essential uses until further notice.
Parish officials said the St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department is working to develop a plan and repair the water leak as quickly as possible. Additional notifications will be sent as they are available.
“It is critical that all residents in Reserve, Garyville and Mount Airy conserve water,” a release from parish government said. “Refrain from washing clothes, running dishwashers, watering lawns, washing vehicles and all other activities that require using large quantities of water. (A) back-up water supply is in place, and all towers are filled in the event of an emergency.”
As conditions change, additional information will be provided, parish official said.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation,” the release said.
