The seventh grade students at St. Joan of Arc Catholic School worked on a controlled experiment as part of their science class. Students learned how to set up, perform and identify a controlled experiment. They combined active yeast with warm water and added varying amounts of sugar in water bottles. They attached balloons over the tops of the bottles, shook them and waited for the reactions to take place. As the balloons filled with air, the students compared how different amounts of sugar impacted the reactions. Danielle Adams, left, Emma Dooley and Riley Weber, right, anxiously waited for the reaction.
