3 local young women place high in Fur and Widlife Fest pageant

The 1998 Louisiana Fur and Wildlife Festival was held Jan. 17 in Cameron.Three local girls competed for the title along with girls from all over the state of Louisiana.
Kara Keller of LaPlace, daughter of Ray and Kay Keller, placed third alternate. She was sponsored by the St. John Sugar Queen Pageant. ShannieCazalot of Destrehan, daughter of Al and Duane Cazalot, placed second alternate. She was sponsored by the St. Charles Parish Festival Pageant.Mindy Vicknair of Destrehan, daughter of Cheryl Deslatte and John Vicknair, placed first alternate and won the overall talent competition.
She was sponsored by Lafourche Parish.
All contestants spent four days in Cameron preparing for the pageant and having a good time. They were judged in the categories of interview, self-introduction, evening gown, talent and on stage questions. A luncheon andfestival parade were held as all of the contestants had great fun both activities.
