Last Sunday was Mother’s Day, and as I was thinking about how wonderful my mom is, I began to realize how much I take her for granted, As a teen-ager I cannot imagine devoting all my time and energy to people who, a lot of the time, don’t even seem thankful. That is exactly what our moms do. The amazing thingis that they do it every time without fail. They are always there for us. Evenwhen we argue with them, when we don’t clean our rooms, when we whine and complain, or when we torment our brothers and sisters, they still love us and do everything for us.
Our moms are like superwomen. They wash our clothes, cook our food, help uswith homework, break up our fights and drive us anywhere. Somehow theymanage to juggle a husband, a family and a household. I’m convinced that theymust have some sort of superhuman strength, because where most people can only handle about two things at a time, they can handle about 25.
When I was little I remember thinking that my mom knew everything. Now, asI’m getting older, I’m realizing that she actually does. She knows where that oldpair of jeans is, or where I left my keys. She knows where I put my homework, and she can remember who called for me on Thursday. But, I think by far themost wonderful thing about moms is that they do all this without expecting anything in return.
When I look at my mom and how much she does for me, I realize how selfish I really am. She sacrifices so much of her own time just to make me comfortable. She never complains about how much I need her, and she never stops giving even when I don’t deserve it. She loves me just the way I am, even with all my flawsand faults. She does everything out of love not obligation; that’s what makes herso special. So, I’d just like to let my mom know, “you are the best, and I loveyou.”If you have any questions or comments contact me at straightkids@juno.com orwrite to P.O.
