Sometimes, it’s astonishing to see conservatives in Congress express disbelief at President Clinton’s continued high poll marks insofar as his job evaluation. Three-quarters of America thinks Clinton is doing a goodjob as president. That has them baffled.It’s never been a puzzle to me. I predicted that last November’s electionwould surprise the national Republican party with its unexpected losses.

Now, it would appear, the party continues to have blinders as regarding the 2000 elections.

My prediction, and you can write this down now, is that the GOP will continue to lose Congressional seats, including Senate seats, and possibly lose control of at least one house of Congress. They may even contributeto the election of another Democrat to the White House. It’s extremelypossible, by my evaluation.

Why? How can this happen? What is wrong with the American people in that they can continue to support a morally-crippled president? The answer is simple and one which seems to continually elude conservatives.

We didn’t elect Clinton for his moral leadership. We elected him to do ajob. And three-quarters of the American people feel he is doing that jobwell and could do even more things on behalf of the people if Congress would put as much time and energy to it, as they have in persecuting Clinton.

To put it another way, America shouldn’t be electing its moral leadership.

We have parents and churches to provide moral guidance. Anyone who looksto a politician for moral leadership is definitely barking up the wrong tree.

Politicians are perceived by the public as being somewhat shady characters to begin with. Then, these are supposed to be moral leaders?And then, when the conservative Republicans come yelping about immoral leadership while they have a few roosters in their own henhouse strikes the American people as more than a little hypocritical.

That explains Clinton’s high marks and the GOP’s low marks. That will alsoexplain the outcome of the 2000 elections.
