BERCEGEAY HAMMONDCharles William Bercegeay, 68, a native of Reserve and resident of Hammond, died Dec. 9. He was the husband of Verlyn TubreBercegeay and father of Jeannine Smith and Andre Bercegeay.
He was also the son of Thelma Heltz Bercegeay and the late Wilson J. Bercegeay.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 11 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, LaPlace, withinterment at a later date.
BUNNER NEW ORLEANSMary Moody Bunner, 92, a native of St. James and residentof Gretna for more than 50 years, died Dec. 5. She was the wife of the lateEdward Bunner and mother of Helen Butler, June Carter and Joseph Jasmine.
She was also the sister of Cecelia Melbert, Robert Moody and the late Alberta Mitchel, Gertrude Brooks and Lawrence Sr., Joseph and John Moody.She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 13 in the chapel of D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home, NewOrleans, with interment at McDonough Cemetery.
ELFER RESERVEHamilton J. Elfer Jr., 94, a native and resident of Reserve, diedDec. 12. He was the husband of the late Irma Audiffred Elfer and father ofJean Anderson, Al, Ted and Nollie Elfer and the late Brian and Lyle Elfer.
He was also the brother of Etienne and Nolan Elfer and the late Norma Daigle and Earl, Noelie and Marie Elfer.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.
GUERET RESERVEAllen J. Gueret, 56, a native and resident of Reserve, died Dec.11. He was the husband of the late Cathy Vicknair Gueret and father ofCheryl and Tammy Gueret.
He was also the son of Omer “June” and Earline Gueret.
Services were held Dec. 14 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery.
KINLER METAIRIEFaith Catherine Kinler, 53, a native and resident of Ama, died Dec. 11. She was the wife of the late Drauzin Kinler Jr. and mother ofCatherine, Charles, Gerard, Dallas and Drauzin Kinler III.
She was also the daughter of the late George Jr. and Catherine BevinettoEberling and sister of Francis Hastings.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 13 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home,Metairie, with interment at Metairie Cemetery.
KINLER MARREROLydie Bourg Kinler, 96, a native of White Castle and resident of Luling, died Dec. 10. She was the wife of the late Claude John Kinler andmother of Olive Champagne, Carroll Kinler and the late Claude Sr. andBourg Kinler.
She was also the daughter of the late Ferninand and Elvie Doiron Bourg and sister of Cullen Bourg.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.
Services were held Dec. 13 in the chapel of Westside Funeral Home,Marrero, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.
LABAT BATON ROUGEMarguerite Mary Abadie Labat, 69, a native of Vacherie and a resident of St. James, died Dec. 10. She was the wife of Dudley Labat Sr.and mother of Rosemary Sullivan, Gerard and Francis Labat and the late Wanda Labat.
She was also the daughter of Rose Gravois Abadie and the late Ozane Abadie Sr. and the sister of Clothilde Hymel, Madeleine Lasserre, JudithKliebert, Rose Anne Mire, Vickie Schexnayder, Nancy Benoit, Jeanne Clemente, Antoinette, Ted, Ozane and Kenneth Abadie and the late Nolan and Harold Abadie.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was a retired employee of St. James Sugar Co-Op.Services were held Dec. 14 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, withinterment at Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, Vacherie.
PALERMO LAPLACEJohnny M. Palermo, 44, a native of Reserve and a resident of St.Amant, died Dec. 8. He was the husband of Trudy Ann Louque Palermo andthe father of Johnny Jr. and Derek Palermo and step-father of Nicole,Sadie and Joshua Broussard.
He was also the son of Carlo and the late Connie N. Palermo, the step-sonof Iris Palermo and the brother of Cheryl Burger, Gina Perrin, Bonnie, Carlo Jr., Vincent and Julian Palermo and the late Anthony and Bennie Palermo.Services were held Dec. 11 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, withinterment at the church cemetery.
