LAPLACE – The St. Charles Catholic Comets played host to the E. D WhiteCardinals Friday night in a game having much to do with the ideal of going to the play-off. The Cardinals coming into the contest with an edge andthe Comets lookings to complete an upset to go with last weeks victory over E.D. White. But it was not to be as E.D. White ended the Comets’ season with a 30-7victory at Thomas Dupuy Stadium.

E.D. White improved to 7-3 on the season, 2-2 in District 9-3A. St. Charles Catholic ended the season at 2-8, 0-4 in district.The game started with the Comets winning the toss and electing to receive. Taking the ball from their own 25 after a return by Anthony Jacobof 10 yards, they quickly went four plays and punted. Kevin Blank got off a30 yarder (he averaged 35 yards for the night) that put the Cardinals at their own 40.

Quaterback J.J Tabor quickly took control and in a beautifully orchastrateddrive in seven plays, brought the Cardinals 60 yards, to the Comets 17.

Justin Verret kicked the 34-yard field goal, giving the Cardinals a 3-0 lead at the 7:52 mark.

E.D. White kicked off to the Comets but again they could not get the ballrolling and had to puntfrom their own 40 after only four plays.

E.D White took at their own 44 and in six plays and three first downs,combined with hard running by Justin Chiassion, put the ball at the Comets’ 16. Tabor connected with Joseph Boudreaux for the touchdown.The point after was missed, leaving the score at 9-0 4:27 into the first.

The Cardinals kicked off to the Comets and after three plays to their own 44, St. Charles Catholic quarterback Nick Monica over-threw a pass intothe hands of Jay Rutter who returned the ball to the Comets’ 20. It onlytook one play for the Cardinals to score.

The score stayed at 16-0 until the second quarter when Tabor gave the ball to a hard driving Chaisson at the Comets 16. Chiasson went aroundthe end for a score, the extra point was good and at 5:49, the Cardinals led 23-0.

The game remained 23-0 until the Cardinals took over at the Comets’ 36 with at the 4:18 mark, Tabor went around the right side for a touchdown from 9 yards out. The point after was good and after three quarters, thescore stood at 30-0.

St. Charles would score late into the fourth quarter on a pass from JasonWaguespack to Phillip Hoffman at the 3:18 mark to avoid the shutout.
