The new $4.5 million, 60,000-square-foot facility manufactures stainlesssteel refrigerators and freezers for the marine industry and is relocating into St. Charles Parish from Kenner.Company officials say they will also add 20 new jobs to the current 50- person workforce. The company also plans to develop the remainder of the14.2-acre tract into a small business park.According to parish economic development coordinator Corey Faucheux, Cospolich is only the latest in a long line of companies relocating to St.

Charles Parish. Since 1996, 30 companies have been successfullyrecruited, accounting for more than $50 million in new direct investment and creating more than 350 new jobs.

Cospolich said its decision was based on two factors – land availability and the assistance of Faucheux’s department. Cospolich company presidentMark Whitfield noted the department’s help in issuing tax-exempt bonds to finance the project.

“By decreasing our debt service, in addition to taking full advantage of the state tax incentives,” Whitfield said, “the department truly is doing everything within its power to ensure we are given opportunity to succeed.”David Quinn of Max Derbest Inc. Realtors, added, “We were able tonegotiate an excellent price for a well-located and properly-zoned site.

Even though the size of the site far exceeded my client’s needs, he was very interested due to his future expansion plans and interest in build-to- suit projects for other light-industrial users.”Faucheux commented: “We feel very fortunate that Cospolich will be a member of our business community. This is a company that has been inbusiness for over 60 years and is continuing to experience substantial growth. Furthermore, it is the latest evidence that we are accomplishingone of our primary goals, which is to attract light-industrial manufacturing facilities that will diversify our local economy.”Back to Top
