BURK
KENNER – Jack W. Burk, 83, a native of Bogalusa, former resident of Media,Pa. for 27 years and resident of Destrehan for two years, died Nov. 1. Hewas the husband of the late Lynn P. Burk and father of Linda Mollere andJeffery Burk.
He was also the son of the late Leon and Margie Bass Burk and brother of the late Glenn Burk.
He is also survived by five grandchildren.
He was a vice president of refining for Gulf Oil Corp. for 38 years.Memorial services were held Nov. 5 at Kenner United Methodist Church.
COOLEY
LAPLACE – Georgia Cooley, 73, a native of Kansas and a resident of LaPlace for the past 30 years, died Nov. 2. She was the wife of the lateDean Cooley and mother of Fran Payne and Gary Cooley.
She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Memorial services are Nov. 10 at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Millet-GuidryFuneral Home, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
DECKARD
DES ALLEMANDS – Ella Dufrene Candies Deckard, 76, a native of Des Allemands and a resident of El Dorado, Ark. for six years, died Nov. 2. Shewas the wife of Jack Deckard and mother of Kathy Granier, Karen Simmons and Calvin, Marty and Lonnie Candies.
She was also the daughter of the late Hector and Eunice Leonard Dufrene and sister of Rose Wiggins and Vaniss Sr., Shelby, Hector Jr., Elvin Sr. andthe late Leona, Norman Sr. and Leo Dufrene.She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 4 at First Assembly of God Church, Des Allemands,with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche.
LeBLANC
CONVENT – Asia Ranielle LeBlanc, 7 weeks, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Nov. 2. She was the daughter of Sedaka and MoniqueHenderson LeBlanc.
She was also the grandchild of Walter III and Glenda Hansley and Horace Dawson and Mary Lee LeBlanc. She was also the great-grandchild of Joeand Mary Henderson, Gladys Adams and Joe Campbell.
Graveside services were held Nov. 4 at St. James United MethodistCemetery, Convent.
MITCHELL
ST. JAMES – Ora Harris Mitchell, 69, a native and resident of St. James,died Oct. 30. She was the wife of Wilson Mitchell Sr. and mother ofDorothy Adams, Elserie Oubre, Carol Meggs, Ora Blake, Shelia Madison, Doris, Margie and Alfred Mitchell and the late Wilson Mitchell Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Allen and Ethel Dot Harris and sister of Elouise and Ethel Leboeuf, Celestine Sims and Ruby, Enola, Oliver, Frank, Irvin, Allen, Melvin and Jefferson Harris.
She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 5 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. James, withinterment at the church cemetery.
ROBERTSON
BOUTTE – Lenetta M. Robertson, 78, a native and resident of Boutte, diedNov. 1. She was the wife of Marty Robertson Sr. and mother of Carolyn andMarty Robertson Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Albert and Gertrude Manuel and sister of Olivia Ross, Harriet Green, Colinda Ross and the late Rev. JohnManuel.
She is also survived by four grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boutte, withinterment at St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
SANCHEZ
PAULINA – Mary Scott Sanchez, 69, a native and resident of Paulina, died Nov. 3. She was the wife of the late James Sanchez Sr. and mother ofJames Sanchez Jr.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Odeal Ward Scott and sister of Ernestine Lee, Joseph, Elijah, George, Jake, Samuel and the Rev.
Benjamin Scott and the late Octavia Ezidore, Pearly Batiste, Alex and Numan Scott.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were Saturday at 10 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina,with interment at Antioch Baptist Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at9 a.m.
WAGUESPACK
GONZALES – Stanford John Waguespack, 83, a native of Burnside, former resident of Convent and resident of Gonzales, died Nov. 2. He was thehusband of 52 years of Grace Brou Waguespack and father of Catherine Boudreaux, Marjorie Cranfield and Kevin, Duane and Hollis Waguespack.
He was also the son of the late Wallace and Edna Marie Descareaux Waguespack and brother of Lenora Dornier, Ola Mae Schexnaydre, Stanley Paul Waguespack and predeceased by a sister and two brothers.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services were held Nov. 4 at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church,Convent, with interment at the church mausoleum.
